The amazing blow.
Down below there was a large pillar, standing in the middle of the floor, and a bear and a lion and a giant on the other side of it. Diombilianus attacked them. The first blow that he drew with the sword on the giant he didn’t leave a mark on him at all. He knew now that his sword was of no use to deal with the giant, and he had to find another way of protecting himself by going round the pillar and the three were after him. When he looked over he saw a sword sticking out of the pillar and the handle facing him. He thought in his heart if he could get a hold of that sword, maybe he could protect himself against them. He ran as hard as he could, he made up some ground on the three after him and got his chance to get the sword and took it out and grabbed the sword from the pillar. He turned around and first thing he did, he drew the sword on the lion and beheaded the lion with the first blow. With the hurry that was on him, and the fear that the giant and the bear would catch him, didn’t the sword split the calf of his foot. The look that he gave he saw the lion and the bear and the giant lying dead from the one blow.
